US-Australia basketball game cancelled because of protocols – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

LAS VEGAS (AP) – The United States v Australia basketball exhibition game scheduled for Friday night in Las Vegas has been canceled due to health and safety protocols.

USA Basketball named “an abundance of caution” in the decision on Thursday evening. The US women’s game against Australia will be played in Las Vegas on Friday as planned.

The decision to cancel the game was made hours after the Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal was banned from the Olympics after being put on health and safety protocols. The team also said Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant was also on health and safety logs “out of caution”.

The Americans will face Spain on Sunday before heading to Tokyo. The opening game against France is scheduled for July 25th.

The US lost their first two exhibition games to Nigeria and Australia, beating Argentina on the third Tuesday night.
