Two Charged In Deadly Pompano Beach Hit And Run – CBS Miami

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Two people were charged Thursday on I-95 in the death of a construction worker.

Victor Ocampo, 32, and Natalia Meija, 32, were arrested after evidence from the crash site and a phone call from a suspicious car led investigators to the Days Inn hotel on W Broward Boulevard, where they were staying.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ocampo was driving the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, which met the 37-year-old construction worker standing on the inner freeway fixing a sign that read “Road Work Ahead” on the left hard shoulder. Meija sat in the passenger seat.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the northern lanes south of Sample Road.

Ocampo was charged with failing to stop and driving without a license in a fatal accident. Meija was subsequently charged with being an accomplice.
