(CNN) – A Bengal tiger missing in the Houston area has been found, officials said.

The tiger is safe with BARC, the city’s animal shelter and adoption agency, said Mary Benton, city communications director.

“We’re happy to announce that the missing tiger, seen in a Houston neighborhood last week, has been found and appears to be unharmed,” Houston police tweeted.

The man last seen with the big cat, Victor Hugo Cuevas, was arrested Friday after a Fort Bend County judge revoked his loan on a 2017 unrelated murder charge pending.

When Cuevas was reportedly spotted with the tiger in a West Houston neighborhood on Sunday night, he was being held for murder in Fort Bend County and evading arrest in nearby Austin County earlier this year.

Cuevas was arrested Monday for dodging Harris County police about the missing tiger.

The tiger was not with him, and its fate and whereabouts have since caught the nation’s imagination.
