Looking for the best food and drink events this weekend? MIA is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a blowout block party, while Concrete Beach Brewery is bringing out cans of their Miami weed brew at an all-day outdoor event. In addition, Punch Bowl Social debuts in Wynwood with a performance by Questlove, Navé launches Sunday brunch, and Phuc Yea hosts a frog legs eating contest.

On this special date, which only happens every four years, restaurants in South Florida honor their guests – especially those with leap day birthdays, also known as leaplings – by offering only one-day specials that Saturday, February 29th.

MIA Beer Company celebrates five years of existence

The MIA Beer Company is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a blowout block party. On Saturday, February 29th, the Doral Brewery will open its doors at noon for a fiesta until the early hours of the morning. The taproom will serve 54 types of MIA beers on tap and bring out Regresa a Mi, a 4.5-percent guava-hibiscus Florida white that comes in 16-ounce cans ($ 18 for a four-pack). Outside at the block party that starts at 3 p.m., the Florida Craft Breweries beer company sells foam, which MIA has supported or worked with over the years. These include favorites like Angry Chair, Calusa Brewing, Arkane Aleworks, The Tank, Tripping Animals, Lincoln’s Beard, and others. Guests can also enjoy rare beers at Marino’s Whale Bar, a pop-up restaurant that serves beers from breweries outside of the state. Farmhouse BBQ will also serve food, as will Tacos & Tattoos, Sweet Melody Ice Cream and other vendors. Block party guests can also enjoy a variety of activities including a silent disco and mini market with vendors selling beer items like Brewtiful Apparel and Cateura Upcycled. Saturday February 29th. Concrete Beach Brewery’s Miami Gras Party

Wynwood’s Concrete Beach Brewery will close the block on Saturday in a grand joint celebration of Mardi Gras and Carnaval. It’s also the day that the Miami Brewery launches a French-style season of wildflower honey-infused Gras, a season of wildflower honey. Wynwood Grand Opening of Punch Bowl Social

Punch Bowl Social, a 23,000-square-foot restaurant, bar, and entertainment venue, opens on Leap Day in Wynwood with a party of food, drink, and questlove. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., guests who buy tickets will enjoy snacks, drinks, and a DJ set from the Roots front man. Tickets are $ 30 and all proceeds will go to a local charity that is yet to be announced. After 9 p.m., Punch Bowl Social will be open to the public. Leap Year Frog Legs Eating Contest in Phuc Yea

Celebrate Leap Year and National Frog Legs Day in Phuc Yea on Saturday. Buy a $ 30 ticket to compete or cheer for contestants as they try to eat as many frog legs as possible. The winning team receives a free invitation to a Sunday brunch with cocktails and a goodie bag with wine and bar items. Navé starts Sunday brunch

Navé, the coast-inspired restaurant run by chefs Michael Beltran and Justin Flit, will be opening Sunday brunch this weekend. The buffet affair, priced at $ 65 per person and $ 35 per child under 12 (excluding taxes and gratuities), will feature a mix of seafood and pasta dishes. Highlights include a raw bar with oysters and stone crabs; Charcuterie and cheese; Vegetables and salads; Pastries and baked goods; and a la carte selection with options such as Nashville Hot Snapper Milanese or soft scrambled eggs with black truffle.
