2020 was undoubtedly a devastating time for the South Florida restaurant and hospitality industry. This meant that positive news about new concepts and the opening of new restaurants was published in 2021.

One of the original food trucks in South Florida, King of Racks, announced the opening of its first stationary location in April. The new restaurant is located at 15516 SW 72 St. (Sunset Drive), Miami, Florida 33193. With indoor and outdoor seating, they are open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays.

When the food truck scene began in Miami there were a handful of trucks. These initial concept trucks were easy to spot. You would visit certain places where those who want to enjoy delicious dishes served in the most informal manner could do so on the street.

Anthony Garcia and his father, Ralph Garcia, have cooked together since Anthony was a little boy with Ralph’s parents. Over the years, the recipes have become a combination of the duo’s favorite flavors, the original marinades and the rubs. Many recipes are the result of objects that they tried and were inspired by while traveling, as well as those created with Anthony’s children.

King of Racks appeared on the Miami food scene in 2013. What began as a lifelong tradition between father and son quickly turned into a business and a popular one. As the truck and its offerings became popular, Anthony’s mother, Cecilia Garcia, joined in, and since then King of Racks has been recognized as the go-to place for great barbecues. This family business quickly built a very loyal following.

In 2018, they opened a store in a new 40,000-square-foot venue now known as The Wharf Miami, where King of Racks held permanent residence for years and curated the food truck program since its inception. Not long ago, thousands had been enjoying typical dishes such as brisket, rib platter and smoked chicken. With The Wharf hosting some of Miami’s biggest events, King of Racks catered for hundreds of corporate events, festivals, and charities, and started doing so outside of the company.

We couldn’t be happier to open the doors of our first restaurant, ”said Anthony Garcia, owner of King of Racks. “It has been a goal for both me and my family to evolve to a point where we can accommodate those who love good food, live music and a safe environment. We can’t wait to see you come out and “put your maggots on”. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. “

Gourmets are happy. King of Racks offers its trademarks as well as new favorites like the burger “The BAM”, a 7-ounce patty, a selection of cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, fried egg, 1 RIB ON TOP, garnished with chives. The HAVANA (burger) consists of a 7-ounce patty, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and onions, avocado, fried egg and a CHEESE CROQUETA garnished with chives. The restaurant also offers some unique twists on other favorites, including brick-oven pizza and some freshly made sandwiches.

Do you want your drink on? They have a license to fill alcohol to moisturize that palate.

King of Racks is located at 15516 SW 72 St. in West Kendall. With indoor and outdoor seating, the location is open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays.
