MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Are you going on a trip this Memorial Day weekend? Travel forecasts have increased significantly compared to last year as vaccination rates rise and pandemic restrictions ease.

Over 660,000 passengers are expected at Miami International Airport on the Memorial Day holiday weekend, May 27 through June 1, which is a daily average of 110,000 travelers. This would be the busiest travel time at the airport since the beginning of the pandemic.

Here are some tips to help you fly safely and smarter at MIA this weekend:

  • Departing passengers should arrive at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight to allow time for adjustments to the airline’s check-in and security checkpoint.
  • Passengers are asked to check-in online before arriving at MIA.
  • To expedite screening at TSA checkpoints, wear easy-to-remove shoes, follow the 3-1-1 rule for liquids or gels in hand luggage, and avoid accessories that look like guns. Visit the TSA website for more tips and information.
  • On-site COVID-19 testing at Miami International Airport is now available to passengers, staff, and visitors in two convenient locations.
  • A federal government-sponsored COVID-19 vaccination center at MIA is offering free single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to anyone aged 18 and over from May 27 to May 28 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. by appointment or advance notice required.
  • Ordering food and drink is now as safe and easy as clicking, grabbing and taking away MIA2GO, the airport’s new contactless mobile platform that allows customers to quickly browse, order and pay for menus in the transit lane before they are picked up at restaurants across the airport.
  • MIA passengers now have a 24/7 personal travel assistant who will advise them of the fastest checkpoint for their flight and the way to get there. Meet the MIA QueueAnalyzer – the latest technology for passenger flow management – which is now available online and is informed in real time about waiting times at security checkpoints via the airport’s mobile app and website.
