The victim, 32-year-old Arice Cobb, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where she was supposed to survive.

According to an arrest report, Hopkins and Cobb were driving from St. Louis to Miami Beach on a trip, but they got into an argument over Hopkins bringing their two young children.

The women were on their way to a party when the dispute escalated over a Facebook post Cobb posted about Hopkins, the report said.

As they got out of their vehicle, Hopkins drew a gun and fired a shot in the air, then shot Cobb in the thigh, the report said.

“The defendant stated that she first fired the weapon into the air as a warning shot, the second shot, according to the defendants, was directed downwards to keep the victim away from the defendant,” the report said.

The report said the officer who responded found Hopkins in a car trying to escape the area, but she was taken into custody.

Hopkins has been charged with a heavy battery with a lethal weapon and public firing of a gun. Legal information was not available.
