Mediterranean Cuisine Is Over The Moon At Strawberry Moon In Miami Beach – CBS Miami
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – David Grutman is a noted owner and curator of Miami’s largest nightclubs, but he also has a list of restaurants frequented by celebrities and celebrities. His latest is Strawberry Moon, which was opened in collaboration with singer and producer Pharrell Williams and is located in their Goodtime Hotel.
Grutman recently sat down with Lisa Petrillo from CBS4 for a conversation between delicious menu items and a cocktail.

“It’s your JAJA Spicy Margarita and, of course, JAJA Tequila and a spicy jalapeno mix, Cheers,” says David Grutman, founder of Groot Hospitality.
“We’re starting off well, that’s all I have to say about it,” Petrillo cheered and enjoyed a sip.
Meeting Miami’s nightlife king and restaurant owner David Grutman, whose Strawberry Moon is at his Goodtime hotel on Washington Avenue in Miami Beach, is always an adventure.
The hotel and restaurant are a dream come true for Grutman, who has the feeling of being back where it all began for him.
“It has such a place in my heart for me because this is my first time moving to Miami Beach. This is the block I went to find a job as a bartender when nobody wanted to hire me. This was the best block and then it became the worst block as you know and now we are so happy to make it one of the best blocks again, ”said Grutman.
The restaurant marks the second collaboration with Grutman’s Groot Hospitality with multi-talented producer, recording artist and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams.
“Partnering with Pharrell brings a different aspect, different perspectives, and I have a perspective on things. He has a completely opposite path and together it becomes something very special, ”he explained.
The design is whimsical with modern mid-century Caribbean-inspired decor designed by Ken Folk.
“No stone is left unturned. Everything has attention to detail and everything is an Instagram moment for us, so come here and Instagram away, ”said Grutman.
Always the marketer, celebrities like Kim Kardashian, David Beckham and Trevor Noah have been spotted on site from the start.
“We want everyone to feel like a star like you know Lisa,” he said.
Back in the kitchen, head chef Ian Fleischmann prepares the meal and tries the varied menu together with Lisa at the table.
“We have Mediterranean elements. We have elements from the Middle East, Arabic, Israel. It’s really a mix of the best elements from the different kitchens, ”said Fleischmann.

Plate after plate with feel-good food, which begins with moon bread, topped with tahini butter and coarse salt.
“Life is short. Start with dessert,” says Chef Fleischmann. “It’s so good. It’s crazy, ”said Petrillo.
Head to Chef Fleischmann’s five delicious homemade Mediterranean-inspired dips before trying the yogurt-marinated chicken skewers, which are served with an Israeli side sauce called amba made from pickled mangoes.
“I love the taste of the pickled mango,” says Petrillo.
“I can have it for lunch every day and I feel good,” says Fleischmann. “It is healthy.”
The charcoal grilled branzino has the perfect heat and crispness, as does the exotic grilled prawns marinated in Moroccan harissa.
“It’s kind of worldly. It’s not the American salt and pepper shrimp. There’s a lot going on in this dish, ”said Petrillo. “So much work, excellent dish.”
Strawberry Moon is open seven days a week for dinner and Saturday and Sunday for lunch and brunch.

Chicken kebab ingredients
- Chicken Breast-2 #
- Greek yogurt-1 cup
- Dried oregano-2 tbsp
- Garlic-5 EA-Smashed
- Olive oil-1/4 cup
- Lemon juice- 1/8 cup
- White pepper-1 tsp
- Spanish yellow onion
- Dice all of your chicken into pieces that are slightly larger than a bite size. Sprinkle the chicken generously with salt. (They will shrink to the perfect size when cooked.)
- Mix together the yogurt, oregano, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil and white pepper.
- Fold the chicken into the yogurt mixture and let rest overnight.
- Cut the onion into 1 by 1 inch petals. Put the chicken and onions alternately on skewers.
- Grill over charcoal.
Shrimp Kebab Ingredients:

- Jumbo Shrimp-2 # peeled weight
- Coriander seeds ground-1TBSP
- Ground cumin-1TSP
- Sweet paprika-1 tsp
- Olive oil-1 cup
- Lemon zest-3 EA
- Lemon juice-3 tbsp
- Garlic-3 EA
- Ginger minced meat-1 TSP
- Sweet peppers
- Combine spices, lemon zest and juice, garlic, ginger and olive oil.
- Add the prawns and toss, let rest for 2 hours, even longer and the prawns start to cook from the lemon juice.
- Skewer the prawns and place a large, sweet pepper on top to hold them in place. Sprinkle with salt just before grilling. (Grill with charcoal, it has the best taste.)
