Lindsay Lohan’s Dad Arrested In South Florida – CBS Miami
MIAMI (CBSMiami / AP) – Hollywood actor Lindsay Lohan’s estranged father was arrested Friday for illegally receiving setbacks for referring patients to a substance abuse treatment center.
Michael Lohan, 60, has been admitted to Palm Beach County Jail on five patient referral cases and one patient referral conspiracy, the Palm Beach Post reported.

A drug treatment center in the Delray Beach area called Pride Recovery paid more than $ 27,000 in setbacks to Lohan directly or to a company he was affiliated with, Lola Recovery Ventures of Palm Beach Gardens, according to authorities.
Florida law makes it illegal for a healthcare provider to pay a commission for referring patients. The practice has been linked to numerous cases of fraud in which rehab centers are reimbursed for performing costly and unnecessary tests on insured patients.
“Patient referral corrupts our health care system because decisions are motivated by greed rather than a patient’s needs,” Palm Beach County District Attorney Dave Aronberg said in a statement Friday.

According to Aronberg, Lohan is the 117th person arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation by a patient placement task force in the area.
Lohan’s lawyer Heidi Perlet says her client denies Aronberg’s allegations.
“Michael Lohan has helped countless people with addiction problems,” Perlet said in a statement to The Associated Press. “Michael should be applauded for his efforts to save lives, not arrested for them. … Michael is looking forward to his day in court when the whole truth and not the prosecutor’s story will come out. “
Lohan has already had several violations of the law, including allegations of domestic violence. He appeared in the fifth season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, ”which aired on VH1 in 2011.
