Hurricanes Rally Past Panthers 5-2 – CBS Miami
RALEIGH, NC (AP) – Jordan Staal scored two goals and the Carolina Hurricanes scored four goals in the third half to beat the Florida Panthers 5-2 on Tuesday night.
Vincent Trocheck scored a power play goal against his former team and supported Dougie Hamilton’s commitment goal early in the third game day, including the power play. Jesper Fast had a late goal for Carolina and Sebastian Aho had three assists.

Aleksander Barkov scored both goals for the Panthers, whose six-game winning streak – the league’s longest active run – was snapped. The Panthers had been 18-0-1 when they led after two periods.
Florida were in third place 2-1, but Hamilton connected it with 45 seconds to go.
Staal put the Hurricanes in the lead at 11:08 when the puck passed Florida goalkeeper Sergie Bobrovsky and then added an empty Nice at 1:40. Fasts Leer-Netter completed the rating.
The Hurricanes won for the first time that season when they fell behind after two periods, improving to 1-4-0 in those games.
Petr Mrazek made 34 saves for Carolina in his second second leg after a thumb injury that sidelined him for more than two months. Bobrovsky stopped 31 shots.

Trocheck has scored five goals in five games against his former side this season. The center was acquired by the Hurricanes in February 2020.
ON THE MARKER
Barkov has scored three goals since returning to the line-up for three games after injury. He has eight goals in his last nine games.
The teams will meet again on Thursday evening in Raleigh.
