Good Samaritan Jumps Into Action, Rescues Woman From Sinking Vehicle In Miami-Dade Canal – CBS Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Good Samaritan went into action to pull a woman out of a vehicle early Saturday morning after it somehow landed in a canal in Miami-Dade.

“I was in my truck and saw the car sinking and stopped. The lady said she couldn’t swim, ”said Roberto Gonzalez. “When I took the woman out of the canal, the vehicle was underwater.”

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Omar Vega said his dive team was in the water within 8 minutes of arriving and could pull the man out of the canal.

Authorities said it happened near Northwest 118th Avenue and Okeechobee Road.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital, with the man in critical condition. The woman was in stable condition.

The authorities did not immediately identify the victims.
