The accident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. near NW 12th Avenue

The semi-trailer driver, who lost his shoe while escaping his burning truck, said the other vehicle involved slipped over the shoulder in the impact.

The semi-trailer hit a concrete barrier. Officials said the semi-trailer was carrying about 100 gallons of fuel and went up in flames after the crash.

“I kicked the door and was able to throw myself out of the cab,” said truck driver Reynier Acosta.

The four people involved in the crash were not seriously injured, according to Miami Fire Rescue.

One of the people in the SUV was North Miami rapper Tafia, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald. He posted on his Instagram Thursday morning that he was leaving the hospital.

According to Miami Fire Rescue, it took the firefighters about 10-15 minutes to put out the flames. The Miami-Dade County’s environmental resource management team was also called on-site to help with fuel that spilled into a rainwater drain from the crash, Miami Fire Rescue said.

“Fortunately it happened at this time of the night. If it had happened during rush hour it could have been a lot worse, ”Pete Sanchez told Miami Fire Rescue.

Acosta was lucky too, who said he somehow got out of his truck in time.

“I thought it was all over at that moment,” he said.

Both the eastern and western lanes of SR 112 were closed for several hours because the scene of the accident was being cleaned. The road was opened again at around 9:30 a.m.
