Dolphins Holding Pop-Up Events Around Miami Ahead Of Home Opener

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins kicked off the season on Sunday with a big win on the road against division rivals New England. The home opener this Sunday won’t get any easier as the Buffalo Bills will visit Hard Rock Stadium. To get the fans back in the mood, the team is holding pop-up events in the area.

“You go, enjoy the weekend, you meet, family, friends,” said Jose Pajon, a Dolphins fan.

As a fan you can only hope for a Dolphins W, but on the other hand some of us are big fans of food too.

“There’s no party at which you don’t see a tray of croquetas,” said Liz Fernandez, co-owner of Dos Croquetas.

It’s something pretty unique to Miami, and Fernandez and her family are excited to fill orders for the game.

Her family was born not only into a culinary tradition, but also into the dolphin fandom.

“I still go to the old school with Dan Marino,” said Fernandez.

It’s all one of the reasons the Dolphins put on a pop-up in Dos Croquetas as part of their Reunion 305 campaign.

“Today we’re celebrating our fans and kicking off the home this Sunday by hosting a series of activations,” said Paola Argueta, Miami Dolphins Corporate Comm.

Monday was only the first in a row before Sunday. Stops were also La Caretta and Latin Cafe.

“I’m just trying to hit every single aspect of what Miami, Miami is,” said Argueta.

The events also help showcase companies for Hispanic Heritage Month.

“Seeing our community come back together and seeing the dolphins and various community leaders around the world really join and support all of these restaurants makes a huge difference to these companies,” added Fernandez.

Events on Tuesday include a stop at Gwen Cherry Park. Miami Slush will be handing out slushies to children with the Boys & Girls Club and the event will help support youth football. It runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
