Crestview Towers residents’ evacuation extended while investigation continues – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – Residents of Crestview Towers in North Miami Beach are being forced to stay away from their homes for extended periods of time.

The building was evacuated on Friday after building authorities ordered the building to be closed immediately. The evacuation came after the property association board submitted a 40-year recertification report on Jan. 11.

On that day, an engineer commissioned by the board came to the conclusion that the building was structurally and electrically unsafe to live in.

On Tuesday, the association submitted the survey, which was rejected by the city because the documents did not comply with the 40-year recertification process.

The report also failed to address the issues raised in January.

The investigation continues.
