Coast Guard: Missing man found dead near Miami Marine Stadium – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI (WSVN) – A day-long search for a man missing near the Miami Marine Stadium ended with the discovery of his body, authorities said.

U.S. Coast Guard officials said Sunday a good Samaritan potted the body of 27-year-old Latrell Harris in the water near the stadium.

Investigators said they learned that Harris disappeared Friday night after the crew of a boat did a head count before leaving the stadium

Several Coast Guard crews were assisted by units from the City of Miami Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Police, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and Florida Fish and Wildlife as they searched the water. However, they failed to locate the New York native Harris City.

“After an extensive search with our surface and air assets and our partner agencies, it is difficult to stop the search for Mr. Harris after he is found,” said Jo-Ann Burdian, US Coast Guard captain. “Thank you to everyone who participated in the search effort and to those who spread the word on social media. Please keep Harris’ family and friends in your prayers. “

The Coast Guard crews searched for more than 30 hours and more than 180 square kilometers.
