Chicago Fire Round Out Florida Preseason Slate With Draw Against Orlando City
The Fire played their fourth and final preseason game in Orlando on Saturday morning and shared the booty against Orlando City 2-2.
The Fire have been training in Florida for the past month, playing four preparation games. With the draw against The Lions, the fire ended the Florida phase of the preseason with two wins, one draw and one loss.
Przemyslaw Frankowski put out the fire on his right foot the third minute when he actually used his right foot to get a bang from 20 meters away.
But Orlando grew into the game and responded with a goal of their own in the 25th minute. Chris Mueller – a native of Schaumburger – equalized for the hosts. There were few notable chances in the second half of the first half when the teams stepped into the break.
The fire regained the lead just ten minutes after half-time when Luka Stojanović headed a low cross from Frankowski home.
It was great to see Stojanović score as he missed most of last season due to an MCL tear. After six months, the Serbian midfielder looks healthy and sharp.
As too often last season, the fire couldn’t hold the lead. Just ten minutes after Stojanović’s goal, Orlando City equalized a second time when Benji Michel scored from close range and loosened the ball with his left foot.
That would be the last goal of the game where both teams would end the game with two goals each.
The fire will continue the preseason action from the comfort of your home. The team is returning to Chicago next week for a few final tuning matches before the regular season begins.
