14-Year-Old Florida Girl Involved In Shootout With Deputies Will Be Charged As An Adult – CBS Miami
DELAND (CBSMiami / AP) – A 14-year-old girl who was involved in a gunfight with Volusia District MPs along with a 12-year-old boy earlier this month is charged as an adult.
The shooting came after the children escaped from a dormitory, broke into a nearby house, found several weapons in it, and then opened fire on MPs.

Prosecutor RJ Larizz said Thursday that the boy, who also shot MPs, is being charged as a teenager.
Bodycam footage shows how MPs reacted to the scene on June 1st.
Sheriff Mike Chitwood said the MPs surrounded the house and tried to speak to the two suspects.
However, the girl came out, threatened to kill the sergeant, and then started firing a gun.
“She aims the gun. She points the gun behind the trash can, ”says an official in the footage, just before the MPs open fire.

The MPs returned fire. The girl was shot in the abdomen and arm.
The boy surrendered and was not injured.
Both youths are charged with attempted first degree murder of a law enforcement officer, armed home burglary, and criminal mischief due to damage to the home.
