1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized After Truck Slams Into Spectators At Stonewall Pride Parade In Wilton Manors – CBS Miami
WILTON MANORS (CBSMiami) – One person is dead and two more were hospitalized Saturday after a truck struck spectators at the Stonewall Pride Parade in Wilton Manors.
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis confirmed the accident, which was just inches from Congressman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s car.

Wasserman Schultz said she was “deeply shaken and devastated, that one life was lost and others were badly injured”.

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, who attended the parade, said the driver had been taken into custody.
I’m in the @WiltonManorsCty Stonewall #Pride Parade – a truck just pulled into the crowd. The driver is in police custody.
I am lucky to be safe, but at least two people have been hit and are in critical condition.

A senior official who was briefed on the incident told CBS4 that the first signs suggest it was an accident.
The driver of the truck told police that his foot got stuck between the accelerator and brake, causing him to lose control of the truck, the officer said.

The officer also warned that the investigation is still at a very early stage and more information is likely to emerge.
Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony confirmed that one person has died and another is in the hospital.
He added: “Our prayers are with the victims and their families. Hug your loved ones tonight. “

Wilton Manors PD tweeted Saturday night that the parade was canceled due to the “tragic event”.
Due to a tragic event, the Stonewall Pride Parade has been canceled but the festival events will continue.

However, the department added that the festival events will continue as “there is no danger to the public”.
